The question now is whether the business model that delivers that argument can sustain its growth quality and public trust at the scale it has reached.


NVDA: The Ecosystem Closes

NVIDIA's fundamentals remain extraordinary and essentially unchanged from last cycle. Revenue grew 65.5%. Gross margin is 74.7%. Operating margin is 65.2%. Net margin is 63.7%. Return on assets is 60.2%. Debt-to-equity is 0.17. The balance sheet carries a 4.59 current ratio and 427x interest coverage. Free cash flow grew 58.9%.

The valuation tightened. Kavout moved from BUY (75% confidence) in Cycle 1 to HOLD (65% confidence) this cycle. The P/E is 29x. Price-to-free-cash-flow is 44x. FCF yield is only 2.28%. The stock at $230.36 is near its 52-week high of $236.54. The market has absorbed the growth story and is now asking whether the next leg of growth can exceed what is already priced in.

Three signals from the data tell the new story:

First, Firmus signed a multiyear capacity deal with OpenAI for two Malaysian data centers. Firmus is NVIDIA-backed, valued above $10.5 billion, and backed by Jane Street, Blackstone, and Coatue Management. It will deploy NVIDIA's next-generation Vera Rubin processors at scale across Asia-Pacific. This is not NVIDIA selling chips to a customer. This is NVIDIA backing an infrastructure company, connecting it to OpenAI as an anchor tenant, and placing its next-generation hardware at the center of the facility. The supply chain is becoming an ownership chain.

Second, Wistron raised $1.47 billion through an equity offering to fund raw materials and production for NVIDIA AI servers. Wistron recently opened a $700 million facility in Texas specifically for NVIDIA systems. The capital raise dilutes Wistron shareholders by approximately 7.3%, but it gives NVIDIA a better-funded supplier without touching NVIDIA's own balance sheet. This is the same pattern as the $500 billion financing initiative from Cycle 2: NVIDIA benefits from infrastructure expansion funded by someone else's capital.

Third, board member Mark Stevens sold $410 million in NVIDIA stock between August 31 and September 4. The dollar figure is striking, but it represents only 5.82% of his holdings. He retains nearly 30 million shares worth approximately $6.91 billion. The transaction is more consistent with portfolio diversification than with a loss of conviction.

The competitive landscape has a new signal worth tracking. Broadcom's custom AI accelerators are emerging as a threat specifically in inference workloads. Major customers are developing their own chips to reduce NVIDIA dependence. This does not threaten NVIDIA's training monopoly today, but it begins to pressure the inference market where the volume of future AI compute will be largest.

Palantir's operational performance remains exceptional. Fiscal 2025 revenue grew 56.2%. Q2 2026 revenue grew 93% year over year to $1.94 billion. EPS grew 156% in Q2. Gross margin is 84.8%. Operating margin is 42.8%. Net margin is 49.0%. Free cash flow grew 84.1% to approximately $3.36 billion. The balance sheet is pristine: 0.02x debt-to-equity and a 7.2x current ratio.

The growth story deepened. Total contract value in Q2 reached $3.37 billion, up 49%. Remaining deal value hit $13.1 billion, up 83% year over year. Net dollar retention reached 157%, up seven percentage points from the prior year. Palantir added 200 new customers in Q2. Full-year guidance was raised from $7.19 billion to $8.15 billion, implying 82% growth. These are not marginal improvements. They are acceleration.

But three signals are testing the thesis this community drew validation from:

First, Michael Burry's criticism. Accounts receivable grew from $1.04 billion at year-end 2025 to $1.49 billion at the end of June 2026, a 43% increase in six months. One customer represents 27% of total receivables. Burry's argument is not that Palantir is fabricating revenue. It is that receivables growing faster than revenue raises questions about collection quality, customer concentration, and how much of the reported growth converts to cash on time. For a company trading at 138x earnings and 119x free cash flow, the quality of the growth matters as much as the quantity.

Second, the NHS trust crisis. UK health officials warned that mistrust of Palantir is causing patients to opt out of NHS data sharing. The number of opt-outs is increasing. This is not a financial risk in the traditional sense. It is a sovereignty paradox. Palantir built its identity on the argument that customers should control their own data. But when the customer is a government health system, the citizens whose data is being managed did not choose Palantir. Third, institutional selling. Cathie Wood sold approximately $25 million of PLTR shares. DMC Group and HB Wealth Management reduced their positions. Guardian Wealth Advisors increased its holding by 67.5%, showing that institutional views are divided, not uniformly bearish. But the selling pressure is real and reflects a market that is asking harder questions about the valuation.

For this community, the Palantir signal in Cycle 3 is more nuanced than Cycle 2. The sovereignty argument is not weaker because Burry raised questions about receivables. It is more complicated because the business model that delivers the argument is revealing the tensions inherent in building sovereignty-first infrastructure at enterprise scale. Customer concentration, government trust, and cash conversion are not abstract concerns. They are the operational reality of what happens when the sovereignty thesis meets a $400 billion valuation.


The Cross-Reference

In Cycle 2, the cross-reference between NVIDIA and Palantir told a story about opposing forces: NVIDIA financing the centralized future while Palantir sold sovereignty as a premium product within it. That frame still holds. But in Cycle 3, both sides of the equation got more complicated.

NVIDIA's ecosystem closure means the centralized infrastructure is not just being financed. It is being vertically integrated. NVIDIA backs Firmus. Firmus signs OpenAI. Wistron raises capital to build NVIDIA servers. The chip company, the data center builder, the supplier, and the AI lab are becoming parts of the same system. For this community, competing against that is not competing against a product or even a financing structure. It is competing against a vertically integrated supply chain where each participant's incentives are aligned toward the same centralized outcome.

Palantir's scrutiny means the sovereignty premium is not guaranteed. Burry's receivables question asks whether the financial quality of Palantir's growth justifies the valuation. The NHS trust issue asks whether the sovereignty model works when applied to public data systems. Cathie Wood's sale asks whether the market is willing to keep paying 138x earnings for a company whose growth, however real, is increasingly questioned on quality.

The cross-reference the data supports: the centralized thesis is consolidating its supply chain. The sovereignty thesis is confronting the operational realities of scale. Neither is collapsing. Both are getting harder.

For builders on the fringe, the practical signal is this: the tools and principles you are building with are sound. Open-weight models beat frontier models on production tasks, as Palantir demonstrated in Cycle 2. Local inference works on the hardware this community runs. But the economic and institutional infrastructure surrounding the centralized alternative is becoming more integrated and more self-reinforcing with each cycle, while the sovereignty model is encountering the friction that comes with operating in the real world at scale.


What's Underneath

Nine weeks of data across two complete rotation cycles and the start of a third now reveal a pattern that is not just continuing but maturing.

In Cycle 1, the brief introduced the forces: infrastructure spending, AI integration, and the tension between centralized and local-first approaches. In Cycle 2, the pattern consolidated: $1.2 trillion in contracted backlog, $500 billion in financing, intelligence routing becoming infrastructure, and the coordination layer going through simultaneous identity crises. At the same time, the sovereignty counter-thesis is encountering real-world friction. Palantir's receivables growth, customer concentration, and NHS trust problems do not invalidate the argument that data control matters. They reveal that building a business around that argument at scale introduces complications that do not exist when the argument lives in a Discord thread or on a personal workstation. Cash conversion, government procurement politics, and citizen trust are the costs of operating the sovereignty thesis at enterprise scale.

For this community, what is underneath the third cycle is the maturation of both sides. The centralized infrastructure is not just being built. It is being woven into a self-reinforcing ecosystem where financing, manufacturing, deployment, and customer relationships all point in the same direction. The sovereignty alternative is not just being argued.
